FAQs

What will the first visit be like?

Reassuring and Empowering. Pelvic and Obstetric Physical Therapy can be a little intimidating, but we are here to change that. Your first visit will be a chance to express your concerns, talk about your fears and get answers to your questions. Together we will work through what you are feeling and establish goals for your care. We will take a look at how you move, your strengths, and functional activities to get a clearer picture.

Performing an external and internal pelvic floor exam provides a wealth of insight into certain conditions. As a Pelvic and Obstetric trained Doctor of Physical Therapy, we go through extensive training to provide these services in a safe and professional manner. External and internal pelvic floor exams can help us to understand how your pelvic floor muscles relate to your pelvic floor symptoms. We understand this may be an uncomfortable topic to some, and so we want you to know that we will only ever perform one of these exams with your permission, and only after we have reviewed all of your questions.

Does Expecting Well accept insurance?

Expecting Well is an out of network provider. Being out of network allows us to be one-on-one with our clients for the entire treatment time. This means your care is provided entirely by the Doctor of Physical Therapy - no aides or other auxiliary staff.

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance company?

Before our first appointment, we recommend contacting your insurance provider to determine if you have out of network benefits for Physical Therapy services. Expecting Well will provide you with a document called a Super Bill after each visit for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Based on your insurance plan and deductible, your insurance company may or may not reimburse you for our sessions. We do not guarantee reimbursement.

FSA/HSA money can be used towards our services!

Do I need a prescription?

No — Physical therapy in New Jersey is “direct access”. This means that you can go to a physical therapist at any time, without a prescription or referral unless specifically required by your insurance company. With our doctoral level education, we can perform an evaluation and determine if there is a need to see another care provider in the case of other findings.
